So this is my first post and i guess i thought what better way to start this blog than by inviting you all to my daughter's Seventh birthday party . The theme was "garden tea" and the place was my back yard:)
The invites sent out to her class mates were part of my craft project , i basically got cards from a craft store making sure there was no text inside or outside, then i proceeded to take out my box of assorted ribbons , buttons and craft paper and went to work on the cards .

We had freshly gotten the deck made and I'm sick of having indoor party's so i decided to take it out . It was mid June and the weather was gorgeous, even thou it was a little windy and by a little i mean it turned my entire food table upside down THREE TIMES ..i mean really? THREE TIMES ? how the heck does anything recover from that ? My poor cupcakes took such a beating that out of the twelve i made , i could only salvage three:P and that too just barely . I cried Yes i cried the third time my mirror fell on my cupcake stand and took the entire thing down with it . And let me tell you my freshly applied mascara dripping down my face wasn't a very pretty sight. My husband could barely keep from laughing and THAT didn't make matters any better.Needless to say the first guest arrived two seconds later and i had no choice but to compose myself and act like a good hostess , which of course didn't really stop me from giving my darling husband the "evil eye" :D As u can see in the picture the offending mirror was then removed completely from the backdrop. SIGH ..the compromises one must make.

Moving on the party was a huge hit with the kids , we started off by giving all the little ladies their spring garden tiaras which my daughter and I did as a little "mom and Iman" time project which i must say turned out super cute and looked gorgeous on all the little girls heads prancing around the garden:)

Next we moved on to a craft project , in which all the kids were given a cute little bird house of their own to colour and decorate. Which probably wasn't the best of ideas , since the paint got everywhere , the table cloth was a right off , the kids hands , OH MY GOODNESS their hands , hopefully not their clothes (if it did i apologize to the moms , I did make sure it was washable paint ) But in short , maybe next PAINT craft project might have to wait till my daughter and her friends are at least FIFTEEN , or Sixteen , I'm not too picky:D . However as all kids do , they loved it and the birdhouses looked fantastic:)

Next i passed the kiddies on to my husband for some good old fashioned party games , which included "Musical chairs",the "EGG and Spoon race" , "HOT POTATO " and finally some "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" (there wasn't a single kid who didn't cheat on that one since the blind folds were so loose:P) and since everyone was a winner I must admit I'm glad my husband bought some extra prizes :).So while all this was going on i proceeded to get the table set and ready for the kiddies to have their snacks:) We had Jello shots and Pink Lemonade on one side.

And cucumber sandwiches , fruit skewers and pizza along with the cake and cupcakes to the other side:)

As far as the Cake itself was concerned i decided to do a Bird cage themed cake , to suit the theme of the party and frankly because it was super easy compared to the other ideas i had lol :) In this picture u might be able to see the offending mirror in the back which kept on falling because of the wind :P

And here are three poor cupcakes that i saved . The pinwheels off to the left side of the picture were also another "craft project" and is super easy to do Incas anyone wants to try it out Here is the link to a great tutorial.

After the food was devoured it was time to leave , the kids were happy and fed , my backyard was a total mess and everyone loved every minute of it :) THANK GOD my sons birthday isn't for another seven months LOL..No but on a serious note , its wonderful to see how small little events like this with some cake and ten of their best friends make them so happy :)
In the end all the kids left with their tiaras , pinwheels , prizes, painted little birdhouses with some bird seed and a little garden bucket complete with gloves , a little rake and shovel and some candies disguised as flowers... but the best part for me , they left with BIG SMILES and that to me meant complete and total success as a hostess and a MOM :D
